Sorry I haven't posted in a while...to be completely honest, I don't remember much about the past week. It seems that the last week or so is just a complete blur. As you can tell, I'm pretty spooked. More like freaked out. I don't know what I can do, or even what I've done over the past week. The last thing I remember is seeing the tall man in the business suit and posting about it online.
I'll keep today's post short, as I'm still trying to sort out the recent happenings, and come to a logical solution. Sorry if I'm not exactly excited to jump straight to the "supernatural" explanation. If you have any advice for me, I'd love to hear it. You can email me at DebilitatingWinter@Gmail.com, and I'll do my best to email you back.
I'll post more as things happen. I have a bad feeling about this. Please, contact me if you know ANYTHING. Thanks.
Until next time,
Carson

Encounter
Wow. So I just got back. That was...eventful? I'll describe it as best as I can in this blog post, but I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to make it that great. I still have a hard time believing that it all happened as I remember.
I decided to stay up to watch Halley's comet, so when it came to be around that time, I went outside and sat on the grass outside of my apartment. That's when it happened. Immediately once the first meteor could be seen shooting across the night sky, someone began walking towards me. It was that freak in the plague doctor outfit. I got up and started backing away, but it was no use, it was like my feet weren't taking me anywhere.
The Doctor began to speak in an extremely low-toned voice. He said something along the lines of "You must overcome" or something similar. But he stopped cold in his tracks when he caught a glimpse of something behind me. In fact, I didn't even see it until I dared turn around once I knew that the Plague Doctor wouldn't attack me from behind.
Behind me was an extremely tall man of about 10 feet or so, wearing a slick business suit (frankly, I didn't even think they made suits for people of that stature, but what do I know?) but not wearing a face whatsoever. There were indents where his eyes and nose would be, but it didn't look like a mask.
How I'm remembering all of this in such detail confounds me, but I guess it is good for anyone who reads this blog. The next thing I remember is being consumed by a fear and dread unlike anything I had ever experienced before, and then the Plague Doctor uttered one single word under his breath before I passed out.
"Benefactor."
When I woke up, it was 1:30p.m. and I was in the same place that I was in last night, unharmed mostly, I had a pounding headache and as it would turn out that German landlord was the one who was waking me up. He gave me some aleeve and sent me on my way. I know something is going on, but I don't know what. I don't know if I should even pursue it. I wonder if I should just keep up my weather journal, and not worry about the tall man or the Plague Doctor ever again, but I question my ability to do so successfully.
Either way, I feel like the weather is the last thing on my mind right now.
Until next time?

Benefactor.
I talked to the German man today. You know, the one who cowered in fear when he saw the freak in the plague doctor costume? Yeah, that one. He has extremely broken English, but I was able to get an audio recording of our conversation. A lot of the time he would respond in German, so for those parts I got a friend of mine to piece together what he was trying to say. I'll post the transcript below.
Me: Do you know who that man was, the other day? You know, the one in the costume? Who is he?
Him: Leave...alone.
Me: Come on, you have to tell me! I know I've seen him before, and I'm not leaving until I get some information. Since I signed the leasing agreement, I've got nothing but clues from you.
[He pauses at this point, as if he is either thinking about telling me, or trying to understand what I was saying.]
Him: Dieser Mann ist die Pest-Doktor. Er besucht die Gegend auf der Suche nach etwas, ich habe noch nicht herausgefunden, was er sucht. [That man is the Plague Doctor. He frequents the area in search of something, I haven't yet figured out what he's looking for.]
Me: I can't understand you, please, if you can speak any English, do so.
Him: GET OUT. If...I...tell...anymore...he...will...find...me.
Me: Who? The freak in the doctor costume?
Him: No. Wohltäter. Benefactor.
[The recording cuts out at this point. We spoke for a few more minutes, but I'm not exactly sure what happened to the footage. It's as if the bandwidth just cut out, because you can hear the audio waves fluctuating, but no words are understood. I'll do what I can to post the audio file soon if I can get to a computer later on. I'll be out of the apartment for a while, but if anything changes I'll be sure to get on.]

Day 2: Saturday, October 20, 2012
Well, it's still not winter. Right now it is 81° outside, with a forecast of partly cloudy, but windy. Of course, as usual it feels like it's 83° outside though. There is a dew point of 66° and a percentage of 61% humidity, and in the next six hours it will be mostly sunny and windy, with temperatures falling to near 77°, which sounds a hell of a lot better than 81°, but still not winter. I predict a cold front coming sometime in the next 11 days, judging by last years Halloween weather was absolutely freezing, from what I can recall.
For those of you who don't know, tonight if you're nocturnal, you can witness Halley's Comet. For those who don't know, Halley's Comet (according to Wikipedia), is the best-known of the short-period comets and is visible from Earth every 75–76 years.[2][10] Halley is the only short-period comet that is clearly visible to the naked eye from Earth, and thus the only naked-eye comet that might appear twice in a human lifetime.[11] Other naked-eye comets may be brighter and more spectacular, but will appear only once in thousands of years. According to a site on the comet, "The shower should be at its peak the night of Saturday, Oct. 20, until just before dawn on Oct. 21. This year, the moon will be setting at approximately midnight, which will keep the sky darkened enough that—barring cloud cover—you should be able to see up to 15 meteors per hour."
I probably won't be able to witness the comet this time, sadly enough, but if by any chance I do I'll be sure to chronicle my experience.
I haven't seen that freak in the plague outfit lately, which honestly concerns me. But something strange has been happening all the same. Ever since I've been looking into the Binaural beats, I've had a song in my head. It's simple enough, but I hear it in my dreams, and when I wake up I'm humming it. I need to drop this investigation. It's not worth losing sleep over it. I need to focus on the weather, I'm not even minoring in audio. Why do I care so much?
Until next time,
Carson.

Doctor
Just when I thought things couldn't get stranger. I found myself seriously interested in the guy with the mask I ran into today. After doing some research, I found that people actually used to dress that way in ancient plague infested cities and whatnot. Apparently they were called "Plague Doctors," and they would treat both the rich and the poor because the city paid their salary.
My only question is: Why is someone dressed like that now? We obviously don't have the plague, so it's just some sicko dressed up in plague doctor attire. I need to get some sleep. I'll post tomorrow about the weather.
Until tomorrow,
Carson.

Day 1: Friday, October 19, 2012
Today, it is not cold yet. I doubt you could really consider this to be winter, which is why I find my professor to be a tad bit senile. It will probably be colder tonight, when the sun goes down but that's to be expected. Right now, it feels like 77°, and what do you know, it IS 77°. The Dew Point is at 33°, with 20% humidity. This is SO not winter. Over the next six hours it'll be sunny with temperatures steady and/or falling to near 71°, so it'll be a little bit better over the course of the day.
That's all that the professor required, so I'll tell a little bit about my day so far. I got up at around 7:13 a.m, despite the fact that I was up until around 3:00 a.m. last night. Damned insomnia. When I got up and went outside, there was a breeze that was just unbelievable. I love those cold-breezes, where the wind blows across your face, and convinces you, even for a moment, that life is grand? I know, that was a bit exaggerated, but that's how I felt this morning.
When I was done with my initial observations, I dropped by the apartment office, because periodically they have fresh coffee sitting on a table inside. Today was one of those days. When I went into the office, the German man who kept warning me about the town drunk was working. He saw me, and for some reason cowered into the back room, as if he was scared of me or something. I ignored him yet again, it was beginning to seem like this man was just loose in the head or something. I turned around, and there was someone standing outside. My heart dropped as I looked at this man, who was dressed in all black, wearing a pointy white mask. I don't even know how to describe it. Searching for an image of it, I found this:

Exiting the building, I tried talking to the man, but he only stared at me and lightly breathed. His head moved as I slowly walked away, as if he was locked on to me. This was the strangest thing, but I can't say this was the first time I had seen this man. Something tells me that I had seen him before since I moved in here, but I can't pinpoint an exact date. Maybe this encounter is the reason why I wasn't able to describe the weather in earnest, who knows?
If you are reading this, and you know anything about this man, please leave a comment letting me know. If you would rather your comment remain anonymous, you can email me at DebilitatingWeather@Gmail.com, and I'll be sure to get back with you. Thanks. Let's hope it's cold tomorrow.

Binaural
I know that it's strange to post this soon after my introductory post, but usually I do some late night web-browsing, I mean, what college student doesn't? But I found something interesting. While I am a meteorology major, I have always found audio interesting. How the brain works in response to certain audio patterns and how it responds differently to others. I found an interesting description of what is known as 'binaural beats' that I wanted to share.
from Wikipedia:
Binaural beats or binaural tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain for specific physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states. The effect on the brainwaves depends on the difference in frequencies of each tone: for example, if 300 Hz was played in one ear and 310 in the other, then the binaural beat would have a frequency of 10 Hz.[1][2]
Some claims that binaural beats "may simulate the effect of recreational drugs, help people memorize and learn, stop smoking, help dieting, tackle erectile dysfunction and improve athletic performance." but that just seems too simple.
Well, that's my nerd's paradise for a while. Tomorrow afternoon I'll begin my chronicle of the weather. I hope it's cold.

Forced
So I've been forced to create a blog over the course of winter 2012 for class. Apparently our professor wants us to chronicle the weather daily until January 21st, but to be frank, I don't know if I'll really update this every day.
I guess the first post, since I haven't been outside much today to really focus on the weather, should be spent doing introductions. I'm Carson Kreiss, 3rd year Junior at a local community college, Meteorology major, if you haven't been able to tell by now. I live in an apartment complex nearby the campus, as they don't offer on-campus housing.
When I first put down the lease for the apartment, the guy behind the counter; a short, stout old man, kept telling me about the town drunk, a man who frequents the sides of the roads nearby. From what I could tell in between the man's fast talking speed and his German accent, he kept going on and on about this drunk, as if he was trying to warn me about him or something. I ignored him of course, I know how to deal with beggars and drunks. You deal with them the same way that you deal with unruly women. Ignore them.
Well, I guess that's all I have to talk about as of yet. I guess if I want to do well in this class I'll get some weather posts going maybe tomorrow. If you actually read this, thanks I guess. Let me know if you have any questions about any of my "fabulous" weather documentation. I'll do my best to answer each question to my fullest knowledge, after all, I'm not the most experienced guy on the subject but I'll do my best.
Until next time,
Carson
