I talked to the German man today. You know, the one who cowered in fear when he saw the freak in the plague doctor costume? Yeah, that one. He has extremely broken English, but I was able to get an audio recording of our conversation. A lot of the time he would respond in German, so for those parts I got a friend of mine to piece together what he was trying to say. I'll post the transcript below.
Me: Do you know who that man was, the other day? You know, the one in the costume? Who is he?
Him: Leave...alone.
Me: Come on, you have to tell me! I know I've seen him before, and I'm not leaving until I get some information. Since I signed the leasing agreement, I've got nothing but clues from you.
[He pauses at this point, as if he is either thinking about telling me, or trying to understand what I was saying.]
Him: Dieser Mann ist die Pest-Doktor. Er besucht die Gegend auf der Suche nach etwas, ich habe noch nicht herausgefunden, was er sucht. [That man is the Plague Doctor. He frequents the area in search of something, I haven't yet figured out what he's looking for.]
Me: I can't understand you, please, if you can speak any English, do so.
Him: GET OUT. If...I...tell...anymore...he...will...find...me.
Me: Who? The freak in the doctor costume?
Him: No. Wohltäter. Benefactor.
[The recording cuts out at this point. We spoke for a few more minutes, but I'm not exactly sure what happened to the footage. It's as if the bandwidth just cut out, because you can hear the audio waves fluctuating, but no words are understood. I'll do what I can to post the audio file soon if I can get to a computer later on. I'll be out of the apartment for a while, but if anything changes I'll be sure to get on.]
Until Next time:
Carson
